Studying at Aspirantum has been, without a doubt, the most fulfilling learning experience of my life.
Language courses very often fail to get the correct balance between pure language and etymology/socio-linguistics. However, in the case of Aspirantum, we were given an incredible practical education in Persian through daily sessions of reading, listening, and speaking whilst also learning about the cultures of the Caucasus, the Middle-east and Central Asia and how the cultural composition of these areas has shaped the language.
By embedding language learning in a wider, more global context, we could absorb the transformational process of classical Persian into its modern-day iteration not simply via an abstract timeline but as a living process. This approach would surely not be possible without the level of expertise provided by Professor Voskanyan, who, though styled as a language expert, is equally knowledgeable on the politics and culture (especially humor) of the many languages he speaks.
With a new topic each week and classes every day, new students will find their vocabularies subconsciously expanding at a surprising pace. I highly recommend this course to Persian language students of all levels.
