My eight weeks participating in Aspirantum’s intermediate Persian language program have changed the way I approach language learning and have given me the momentum to continue my studies in Persian. Before I began the program I was feeling discouraged and had almost lost hope in attaining my proficiency goals and my dream of pursuing a career in literary translation. Throughout my time here, due to the excellent, knowledgeable, and patient instruction of my teachers, I have not only gained confidence in speaking but have tremendously improved in reading and listening comprehension through in part to the immense amount of vocabulary explored each week via the diverse range of topics covered in the course. From literature to economics and religion to politics, the course offered an incredibly comprehensive study of the Persian language, and I now have a thorough understanding of its historical presence contextualizing current affairs.
Beyond the intellectual leaps, I made this summer, Aspirantum attracts the best kind of people, and I feel I have made lifelong friendships both within the classroom and on the weekend excursions included in the program to various important cultural and historical sites in Armenia.
As a heritage language learner Aspirantum has allowed me to become closer to my Persian family who remain my initial inspiration for learning Persian.

“We got to visit many of Armenia’s beautiful old monasteries and churches, and, on my favorite trip, we visited Yazidi shepherds, who were very welcoming, giving us bread and cheese and letting us try to milk their sheep. Unfortunately, I did not manage to milk it successfully, but the experience was wonderful nevertheless!”Read Testimonial
