These past four months that I have been abroad and attending ASPIRANTUM have been filled with life-changing experiences for me. Foremost, my language skills in Persian have dramatically increased. I have been able to focus on learning Persian here in a way that I was unable to at my university in the United States. While living in Armenia, I have been able to intensely study Persian for over 4 hours every day and communicate with my peers and professors through this language. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and were eager to help me in any way possible.

Through living abroad in Armenia, I have been immersed in a new culture and lifestyle that is been completely different from my life in America. For example, I have had multiple discussions with my professors about the effects of how Armenia’s genocide, post-Soviet history, and state of warfare have affected both its culture and its people. Additionally, ASPIRANTUM has enabled me to learn more about Armenian culture through several trips. My favorite trip was to Lake Sevan, where I got to relax with my classmates, canoe, and enjoy traditional Armenian food.

All in all, studying in Armenia has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, and I am confident that the skills I have acquired here will positively shape myself and my future career for years to come. Once again, I am incredibly thankful for ASPIRANTUM!
