3-Week Intensive Online Russian Language Course

October 12–30, 2026 | 36 Hours of Live Online Instruction

ASPIRANTUM – Armenian School of Languages and Cultures is pleased to announce a new 3-week intensive online Russian language course: “Learn Russian through Songs.”

The course will take place from October 12 to October 30, 2026 and will offer participants 36 hours of live Russian language instruction.

Classes will be held four days per week — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday — with each class lasting 3 hours.

Rather than learning Russian only through traditional textbook materials, participants will explore the language through well-known and culturally significant Russian-language songs from the Soviet and post-Soviet periods.

Each class will focus on one or more songs and will combine listening comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, analysis of lyrics, cultural context, and discussion. Participants will work with authentic Russian and encounter idiomatic expressions, colloquial language, grammatical constructions, and vocabulary as they appear in real cultural contexts.

Over the three weeks, the course will explore several periods of Russian-language music and culture:

Week 1 – Songs from the Soviet Period
Participants will study Soviet-era songs and examine the language, themes, ideas, and cultural environment reflected in their lyrics.

Week 2 – Songs of the 1990s and 2000s
Participants will explore how Russian-language music changed during the post-Soviet period and how new social and cultural realities were reflected in language, vocabulary, and musical expression.

Week 3 – Songs of the 2010s
The final week will focus on more contemporary music, modern vocabulary, stylistic changes, new expressions, and developments in contemporary Russian-language culture.

The syllabus includes songs by artists and groups such as Alla Pugacheva, Vladimir Vysotsky, Kino, Laskovyi Mai, Ivanushki International, Boombox, MakSim, Leningrad, Molchat Doma, and Lyapis Trubetskoy.

Required level: The course is designed for students with at least an lower intermediate knowledge of Russian.

Classes are preliminarily scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM Yerevan time (GMT+4). The starting time may be adjusted depending on the needs and time zones of the participants.

Regular participation fee: $490

Early bird fee: $350 for participants who register and complete payment by October 1, 2026.

This course is designed for students who want to improve their Russian while exploring the close relationship between language, music, history, and culture. Learn Russian through Songs Syllabus

Each day’s lesson combines grammar instruction, listening practice, reading lyrics, vocabulary work, and engaging discussion. From Soviet classics to post-2010 pop, rock, and rap, students will dive into the sounds that shaped generations. You'll study real-life language as it appears in music - colloquialisms, idioms, and expressive grammar - all while gaining insight into the culture behind the lyrics. Daily prep and focused homework will help reinforce learning and boost confidence. By the end of the course, you’ll not only speak more fluently - you’ll feel the rhythm of modern Russian.
