1 week 2025 Learn Russian through the Constitution of the Soviet Union
What an incredible course! This was a fantastic overview of the 1977 Soviet constitution. Using more formal language is a more challenging Russian text for me, but Aliona made sure we both understood the new words and the context in which we are meant to use them. Going article by article gave me a much deeper relationship with the text, and I feel like I now have a thorough grasp of the material. I was surprised at many of the rights protected in the 1977 Soviet constitution, and we had lively conversations discussing the extent to which they were or were not reflected in reality. Especially interesting were the articles protecting the right to criticize the government, protest, and communicate privately. In addition to discussing each article, we observed maps of the 1977 Soviet territory, and the differences between regions, autonomous zones, and oblasts, which was very helpful in understanding Soviet territory as a whole. This was really great!!!
