During the spring of 2021, I had the pleasure of participating in the Middle Persian (Pahlavi) Online School, organized by ASPIRANTUM and taught by the one and only Mr. Ruben Nikoghosyan.
I'm deeply interested in the linguistics and history of Zoroastrianism and pre-Islamic Iran, especially that of the Sasanid period. Thus I must say that this course was absolutely amazing and beyond anything I could have expected.
First of all, Ruben without a doubt deserves all the praise given to him. He is an excellent teacher, with vast knowledge, patience, and passion. He was really helpful and ready to answer all our questions. It's safe to say that this course wouldn't be the same without him.
The course itself was equally as great, however. It was really well structured, with increasing but balanced difficulty progression, which allowed us to quickly learn and improve our Middle Persian skills without being overwhelmed. We had a syllabus, with keywords, information, and links to online classes. We were also given several very interesting articles.
I'm really glad I took part in the Persian (Pahlavi) Online School. It was probably my best decision of the pandemic period. Not only did it allow me to broaden my knowledge of the beautiful Pahlavi, but also helped me to make contact with other researchers in this field of study. I would full-heartedly recommend this course to anyone interested in the Middle Persian language, linguistics of Iranian Languages, or Zoroastrian and pre-Islamic Iranian history.
