Day 1 - Political Interview

Political interviews are an integral part of today’s political culture. These are very convenient means journalists use in order to discuss and clarify different political questions with politicians of varying ranks and orders. In this section the different language-related aspects of political interviews will be discussed.

(The interview of the China Central Television with Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran)

A recent (December 2024) interview with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the current Foreign Minister of IR of Iran, on the situation in the Middle East and cooperation under the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.

Subject of Conversation: Iran’s foreign policy in a changing world: regional and global perspectives (سیاست خارجی ایران در جهان در حال تغییر: چشم‌اندازهای منطقه‌ای و جهانی).

Students will be required to study in advance materials on Iran’s foreign policy at both the regional and global levels, analyzing how recent world developments influence its formation. In class, they will present and defend their opinions on the topic. Discussions will also cover recent events in Syria and ongoing debates about Iran’s nuclear program.
